Former West Virginia running back Quincy Wilson was named the next head coach at the University of Rio Grande (NAIA).
Wilson, a native of Weirton, West Virginia spent 2023 as the running Backs and tight ends coach as well as the recruiting coordinator for Fairmont State. Previously he was the head coach of the University of Fort Lauderdale, associate head coach/running back coach at West Virginia State University for five seasons and served as the running backs/run game coordinator at Glenville State during the 2016 season.
From 1999-2003 Wilson rushed for 2,608 yards and 20 touchdowns with the Mountaineers. He was drafted in the seventh round of the 2004 NFL draft by the Atlanta Falcons, where he spent his first two seasons, before spending his final two with the Cincinnati Bengals.
Wilson looks to lead “the reboot of the school’s long-dormant program” according to the University of Rio Grande’s press release, with the football set to return in the fall of 2025.
