MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (June 4, 2024) – Junior Brodie Kresser and sophomore Logan Sauve of the West Virginia University Baseball team were both named Academic All-District by College Sports Communicators as announced by the organization, Tuesday afternoon.
Kresser is a sport management major with a 3.73 GPA while Sauve is studying finance and has a 3.61 GPA. It is the first selection for both players in their careers.
Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First, second and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced July 2. To qualify, student-athletes must have a 3.50 GPA, be at least a sophomore, and play in at least 90% of the team’s contests or start in at least 66% of the team’s games.
Kresser is currently hitting .272 on the season with four home runs, 24 RBI, and 26 runs scored in 45 games played. The second baseman also leads the Mountaineers with 12 stolen bases this season.
Sauve has been a rock behind the dish for WVU, catching nearly every inning since returning from an injury on March 30. The Boiling Springs, Pennsylvania native is hitting .314 with eight home runs, 37 RBI, and 42 runs scored in 43 games played. He was also recently named to the Tucson Regional All-Tournament Team after hitting .461 with a home run and six RBI in three games.
The two players become the 10th and 11th Academic All-District selections in Mountaineer baseball history.
Kresser, Sauve, and the rest of the Mountaineers will be back on the diamond this weekend as WVU makes its first appearance in a super regional against UNC. The best-of-three series gets started from Bryson Field at Boshamer Stadium in Chapel Hill on Friday, June 7, at 6 p.m.
