West Virginia will travel to Chapel Hill, NC for a best-of-three series against North Carolina. The series will begin this Friday, June 7th at 6 pm and will air on ESPN2.
North Carolina entered the NCAA Tournament as the fourth overall seed and went 3-1 in their regional matchups. Their only loss came to the defending national champions, LSU, who the Tar Heels defeated twice in their three regional games. North Carolina went 42-13 during the regular season, capturing their 17th regular-season conference championship and winning it for the first time since 2018. They were the #1 seed in this year’s ACC Tournament before falling short of a conference tournament championship in pool play.
While the Mountaineers became Regional Champions for the first time with their win against Grand Canyon this past Sunday, North Carolina won their 13th Regional Championship against LSU this past Monday. It’s their second time winning their region in the past three years.
If victorious in a best-of-three series against the Tar Heels, West Virginia would take on the winner of Kansas State and Virginia’s Super Regional matchup.
All eight Super Regional matchups will occur throughout the weekend, with a best-of-three series either going from Friday to Sunday or from Saturday to Monday. The Mountaineers will play on Friday, Saturday at 8 pm, and Sunday at 3 pm if needed. All of West Virginia’s games will air on ESPN2.
