Fans of EA’s College Football video game franchise have waited over a decade since the last game, which was released in the summer of 2013.
As college football evolves, including the introduction of NIL, the game is officially set to return this summer with an official release date of July 17. With that comes a lot of anticipation and excitement, the following will predict West Virginia’s top-five highest-rated players as well as their best attributes.
Wyatt Milum — 90 overall
Highest Attributes: Pass Blocking and Awareness
A native of West Virginia, Wyatt Milum is one of the Mountaineers’ most highly regarded players. He is already predicted to be an early-round pick in the NFL draft and has been a staple in WVU’s offensive line since he was a freshman. Milum started as a right tackle but switched to left tackle, the blind side, ahead of his sophomore season. He slightly grades out higher in pass blocking than run blocking and has shown great football IQ/ feel for the game in his first three years at West Virginia.
Aubrey Burks — 87 overall
Highest Attributes: Zone Coverage and Pursuit
In 2024 Aubrey Burks will be playing multiple positions on the West Virginia defense including safety, which he has been playing for the last couple of seasons and SPEAR. Burks has consistently been one of West Virginia’s highest-graded defensive players, particularly in coverage, over the past few seasons. With him seeing snaps at SPEAR, it can be inferred he’ll also be given a fairly high pursuit attribute.
Garrett Greene — 86 overall
Highest Attributes: Acceleration and Throw Power
Mountaineer quarterback Garrett Greene made a name for himself in 2023 with a handful of highlight plays and big rushes. He finished the season with 2,406 passing yards and 16 passing touchdowns as well as 772 rushing yards and 13 rushing touchdowns. Greene is also known to heat on the ball and ultimately could be an exciting player to use in the game, with his high motor.
Jahiem White — 85 overall
Highest Attributes: Speed and Change of Direction
Running Back Jahiem White was one of the biggest surprises for West Virginia in 2023. In his freshman season, White gradually worked himself up to get more carries and did the most with them. There were four games where he rushed for over 100 yards, including 204 yards against Cincinnati and averaged 7.7 yards a carry overall. He also helped WVU in the passing game with five receptions for 125 yards and two touchdowns.
CJ Donaldson — 84 overall
Highest Attributes: Break Tackle and Ball Carrier Vision
CJ Donaldson has been a touchdown machine for the Mountaineers after switching to running back after being recruited as a tight end. In his first two seasons, he scored 19 touchdowns on the ground, even with him missing multiple games due to injury. Donaldson’s hard running style and White’s elusive style may create one of the best complimentary backfield duos in the game.
