Former West Virginia running back Justin Johnson has been hired at St. Pius X High School in Festus, Missouri as their running backs coach.
A native of St.Louis, Johnson spent three years with the Mountaineers from 2021-2023 and entered the transfer portal ahead of WVU’s bowl game against UNC, but it appears he is hanging up the cleats instead as he begins a career in coaching. He rushed for 150 yards and one touchdown this season on 38 carries.
Johnson got the start at running back in West Virginia’s win over UCF on Oct. 28, where he rushed for 15 yards on seven carries. His best season came in 2022, where he had 430 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns on 98 carries as well as 46 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown on eight catches.
