Senior Spotlight: Reed Chumley

After transferring to West Virginia from Houston Christian, Reed Chumley will be one of four seniors honored on Saturday for WVU Baseball.

Chumley spent two seasons at Houston Christian and one season at Cisco College and Odessa College each prior to his transfer to Morgantown. The 6-foot-1 infielder from Texas was a All-Southland Second Team selection in 2023 after hitting .392 with 11 home runs with Houston Christian.

This season, Chumley is batting .322 with 39 rbi and a team high 14 home runs. He has also been a solid arm for Coach Mazey in the field this season, holding down third base for a majority of the year.

In the two games against Marshall this season, Chumley went a combined seven for eight at the plate with seven rbi, three home runs, two doubles, and five runs scored.

Fans will certainly also remember his walk-off solo home run in the bottom of the eleventh inning to complete the sweep at home against the ranked UCF Knights.

One of four seniors this season, Chumley will be honored on Saturday against Kansas State in the second to last home game of the year. The final home game on Sunday will be used to honor head coach Randy Mazey who is coaching his final home game in his twelfth and final season at WVU.
