West Virginia Baseball Postseason Projections — May 9

West Virginia baseball is closing in on their final home series of the 2023 season and as they are set to do that, they are in the thick of the NCAA Tournament postseason conversation.

The Mountaineers are a two-seed in both D1Baseball’s and Baseball America’s postseason projections this week.

WVU is 29-18 on the season and is ranked No. 37 in the RPI rankings. WVU is down seven spots in the RPI from where they were this time last week, but have three games against Kansas State (No. 38 RPI), and TCU (No. 29 RPI).

Baseball America predicts the Mountaineers to be headed to Charlottesville, Virginia, heading to face No. 11 Virginia. WVU is projected to face James Madison in the first game, and High Point would be the No. 4 seed by D1Baseball’s projections.

D1Baseball has WVU in a familiar place — Lexington, Kentucky. D1Baseball projects WVU heading to face projected No. 1 seed Kentucky in the Lexington Regional as the two seed. WVU would face Illinois in the first round, with Omaha being the fourth seed in the region.

WVU has six games left in the regular season starting Friday night at home at Kendrick Family Ballpark. WVU then hits the road to face TCU and then will stay in the state of Texas for the Big 12 Tournament.
