Grant Hussey is officially at the top of the West Virginia home run record books.
Hussey, a Parkersburg, W.Va., native, hit his 35th home run of his career in the top of the first inning against Pitt on Tuesday. That tied him with Jedd Gyorko and Tim McCabe as the most home runs in WVU program history.
Hussey then hit his 36th home run of his career in the fifth inning, roping a two-run blast to right field.
Hussey’s first blast was his 10th of the year and his second in as many games. It came off Aidan Coleman and put the Mountaineers up 4-0 against rival Pitt. His second put the Mountaineers ahead 10-0.
Hussey is in his third season with WVU, hitting 11 home runs in 2022 and 14 home runs in 2023.
