On Monday, Illinois transfer Sencire Harris officially signed with WVU.
Harris, a 6-foot-4 sophomore from Canton, Ohio, verbally announced his commitment to West Virginia along with Illinois teammate Amani Hansberry on Sunday after visiting over the weekend. Harris has built a strong relationship with and was recruited by new Mountaineers associate head coach Chester Frazier, who also came from Illinois.
Harris redshirted last season but as a freshman in 2022-2023, played in 33 games for the Fighting Illini, starting seven, averaging 3.7 points, 2.1 rebounds and just under an assist a game. Harris joins Tucker DeVries as the second transfer player to officially sign with WVU this cycle and since the head coaching change.
“Sencire will fit in great with the way we play in transition and in the half court with his ability to get downhill,” West Virginia head coach Darian DeVries said. “He is a game changer defensively and has the chance to be one of the best on-ball defenders in the country. Sencire is a winner with incredible energy and passion for the game.”
