Illinois forward transfer Amani Hansberry announced his commitment to West Virginia on Sunday.
Hansberry is a 6-foot-8 freshman who was on a visit to WVU this past weekend and has strong connections to newly named Mountaineers associate head coach Chester Frazier, who came from Illinois. He was a former four-star recruit and the No. 1 recruit from Maryland in the class of 2023 according to 247Sports. In 19 games played this past season, Hansberry averaged 7.5 minutes, with 2.4 points and 2.1 rebounds per game, shooting 45.2% from the field.
Hansberry becomes the third transfer to commit to West Virginia, joining Tucker DeVries and teammate at Illinois Sencire Harris, who committed to WVU earlier Sunday.
