On Friday, the WVU men’s basketball officially announced the addition of Kory Barnett, who will serve as an assistant under head coach Darian DeVries.
Barnett was formerly an assistant at Nevada and UCLA, making a name for himself on the defensive side, working on Steve Alford’s staff at both schools. He was the director of operations, director of scouting & player development and video coordinator for UCLA, before getting promoted to an assistant.
“We are thrilled to have Kory join our basketball staff as he is one of the great, bright young coaches in college basketball,” DeVries said. “He has worked his way up during his career and really did a great job at Nevada, especially working with their defense and having them ranked at the top nationally. Kory is an incredible person and family man.”
Barnett played collegiately at Indiana, where he was a forward and a part of a Hoosiers squad that made the Sweet 16 his senior year. Barnett joins Chester Frazier, Nelson Hernandez and Nick Norton as members of DeVries’ that have been officially announced.
