College football has some changes that the NCAA officially approved for the 2024 season.

Earlier today, the NCAA approved a rule that allows FBS teams such as West Virginia to use helmet communication from coaches to players. Much like you would see at the professional level, players with these helmet communications will have a green dot on the back midline of their helmet.

The NCAA is now also allowing teams to have tablets on the sidelines for players to review in-game video only. The said video can be the broadcast feed or the coaches’ film from sideline or end zone view.

Teams can have up to 18 tablets in use by anyone in the coaching booth, sidelines, or locker room. The tablets cannot be connected to other devices, nor can they include data, analytics, or other communication access.

Another rule change coming to college football in 2024 is the two-minute warning. This is already present at the professional level of football, and this creates an automatic timeout with two minutes remaining in the second and fourth quarter.
