Former Mountaineers James Okonkwo and Seth Wilson are transferring to Akron per Jeff Goodman.
Okonkwo, originally from the United Kingdom, spent his freshman and sophomore seasons (2021-2023) with WVU, before transferring to UNC before last season. This past season with the Tar Heels the 6-foot-8 forward played in 15 games, averaging a point and rebound per game.
Wilson has been with West Virginia since 2021 and was the first Mountaineer to enter the transfer portal after the Darian DeVries hire. Wilson played in 28 games this past season, starting three and averaged 3.5 points, 1.7 rebounds and just under one assist per game.
Both juniors, the two will reunite after spending 2021-2023 together at WVU. West Virginia has lost multiple players to the transfer portal cycle and have added just one transfer thus far, Tucker DeVries.
