West Virginia cornerback Jacolby Spells will miss the remainder of spring practice, head coach Neal Brown announced on Wednesday.
Spells, who is in his third year with the program, has an upper-body injury which required surgery.
“Jacolby Spells is going to miss the rest of spring. He had to have surgery,” Brown said.
Brown added that the loss of Spells comes at a bad time for both the program and for Spells personally after the success he sustained this winter.
“He’ll probably miss some time during fall camp, but he’s gong to miss the rest of spring. He’ll probably miss some time during fall camp, but he’s gong to miss the rest of spring. And he had a great winter, so really hurt for him and us because he really had a great spring. I think he’ll be back at some point early in the fall,” Brown said.
Spells played in 12 games for WVU last season. He had eight total tackles and a pass defended. Spells also appeared on special teams for the Mountaineers.
