Former West Virginia Forward Back in Transfer Portal

James Okonkwo, who spent 2021-2023 at West Virginia before transferring to UNC before this season has re- entered the transfer portal.

Okonkwo, originally from the United Kingdom played just three games as a freshman at WVU playing a total of 11 minutes. The 6-foot-8 forward saw more time as a sophomore, playing 11 minutes per game, averaging 3.2 rebounds, 2.5 points and 0.7 blocks per game, with a total of 100 rebounds, 77 points and 22 blocks in the season.

Following Bob Huggins’ resignation, Okonkwo entered the transfer portal and ultimately joined the Tar Heels, where he played in 15 games averaging a point and rebound per game in 15 games played as a junior. Assumingly looking for a bigger role and more playing time elsewhere, while there is no longer a penalty for second-time transfers, Okonkwo has entered the transfer portal for a second time in his collegiate career on Friday.
