On Tuesday, WVU guard Kerr Kriisa entered the transfer portal following one season in Morgantown under former interim coach Josh Eilert.
“Thank you to the people of Morgantown for making this past season special. Although it was a difficult season, I have grown more as a player and a man than I have in any other year,” Kriisa wrote in an Instagram post. “Thank you to the WVU staff for believing in me and helping me to grow my game. To my teammates, who banded together as we attempted to navigate this wild season, I thank you for this year; we are brothers for life. The WVU fanbase deserves more than we could give them, and I will always love the wonderful people of West Virginia. I wish Coach DeVries and the Mountaineers all the best going forward. With that said, I have entered the transfer portal and look forward to the season ahead.”
Kriisa started this season serving a nine-game suspension for receiving impermissible benefits while at Arizona, where he spent three seasons previously. This season, he averaged 11 points, 4.7 assists and 2.5 points per game, shooting 42.9% from the field and 42.4% from three. He scored a season-high 25 points in an overtime loss to Kansas State on Feb. 26.
“Morgantown and the people of WVU will always have a special place in my heart,” Kriisa said in the caption of the post.
Kriisa joins Seth Wilson as the second West Virginia player to enter the portal this cycle.
