Former Mountaineers and current St.Louis Cardinals rookie center fielder, Victor Scott the second claimed his first and second MLB hit on Sunday in a tight game against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Scott went hitless in the Cards’ first three games but managed to get on base a couple of times. On Sunday, he went two-for-three at the plate, including a single, a double and a walk. The 23-year-old picked up his first career in the top of the third, when he reached on an infield single and later came around to score
He then doubled in the fifth, where he also scored and walked in the sixth, before grounding out in the eighth. St.Louis held a 4-0 lead heading into the bottom of the sixth, but the Dodgers chipped away and eventually took the lead on a Max Muncy two-run home run in the bottom of the eighth 6-5, which they successfully closed out in the ninth.
Scott is now batting .143 four games into his major league career, with an on-base percentage of .200. He stole a base in the Cardinals’ opening-day game against the Dodgers and has scored three runs so far. St.Louis is 1-3 after opening weekend and will travel to San Diego for a three-game series against the Padres starting Monday.
