Big 12 Baseball Weekly Recap — March 26

We are almost to the end of March, and the Big 12 has been solid in baseball up to this point.

In the latest D1 Baseball rankings, the Big 12 has two teams represented in it: Kansas State at 23rd and Oklahoma at 25th.

As of games through March 25, 12 out of the 13 teams are at or above .500 on the season, with Baylor being the only team with a losing record.

Let’s take a look at each Big 12 team and how they fared in games over the past week. This list is sorted alphabetically.

Baylor (8-15, 3-6 Big 12)

Last Tuesday, Baylor lost a single road game against Sam Houston 18-3. Sam Houston had a 12-run inning in the third to cruise the way to victory.

This past weekend, Baylor played a three-game road series against Texas. They lost the series 2-1, winning 4-3 in 11 innings then losing 10-2 and 11-1 in eight innings.

Up next for Baylor is a single home game against UTSA later today. After that is a three-game home series against Cincinnati starting on Thursday.

BYU (11-11, 4-5 Big 12)

Last Tuesday, BYU won a single road game against Utah Tech 11-6. BYU used an eight-run inning in the second to lift them to victory.

This past weekend, BYU played a three-game road series against Texas Tech. They lost the series 2-1, winning 8-5 then losing 4-3 and 10-1.

Yesterday, BYU lost a single home game against Utah Valley 15-11. BYU had an eight-run inning at one point, but Utah Valley had a nine-run inning later on to win it.

Up next for BYU is a three-game home series against Kansas starting on Thursday. After that is a three-game road series against Texas next weekend.

Cincinnati (15-10, 3-3 Big 12)

Last Wednesday, Cincinnati won a single road game against Miami (OH) 11-3. Cincinnati had seven runs in the fifth and sixth innings to help propel the way to victory.

This past weekend, Cincinnati played a three-game road series against Saint Louis. They won the series 2-1, losing 14-12 then winning 13-4 and 8-3.

Up next for Cincinnati is a single road game against Louisville later today. After that is a three-game road series against Baylor starting on Thursday.

Houston (14-9, 4-5 Big 12)

Last week, Houston played a two-game home series against Rice. They swept the series 4-1 and 4-2.

This past weekend, Houston hosted a three-game home series against Kansas State. They got swept 5-3, 6-5, and 9-3.

Up next for Houston is a single home game against Lamar later today. After that is a three-game road series against TCU starting on Thursday.

Kansas (12-10, 4-5 Big 12)

Last Tuesday, Kansas won a neutral site game against Missouri 4-3 in 10 innings. Kansas won it in the 10th off of a walk off sac fly.

This past weekend, Kansas hosted a three-game home series against UCF. They lost the series 2-1, winning 13-3 then losing 6-2 and 4-1.

Up next for Kansas is a three-game road series against BYU starting on Thursday. After that is a single road game against Wichita State next Wednesday.

No. 23 Kansas State (17-6, 5-1 Big 12)

Last Tuesday, Kansas State won a single road game against Wichita State 8-6. After going down early, Kansas State used a six-run sixth inning to help propel the way to victory.

This past weekend, Kansas State played a three-game road series against Houston. They swept the series 5-3, 6-5, and 9-3.

Up next for Kansas State is a single home game against Nebraska later today. After that is a three-game home series against Texas starting on Thursday.

No. 25 Oklahoma (14-9, 7-2 Big 12)

Last Tuesday, Oklahoma lost a single home game against No. 15 Dallas Baptist 6-0. This was the first time in two years in which Oklahoma has been shut out in a game.

This past weekend, Oklahoma hosted a three-game home series against West Virginia. They lost the series 2-1, winning 13-0 then losing 9-5 and 8-3.

Up next for Oklahoma is a single home game against Oral Roberts later today. After that is a three-game home series against Lamar starting on Thursday.

Oklahoma State (15-9, 3-3 Big 12)

Last Tuesday, Oklahoma State won a single home game against Missouri State 13-4. Oklahoma had eight runs in the second inning and four home runs overall to propel the way to victory.

This past weekend, Oklahoma State hosted a three-game series against No. 18 TCU. They won the series 2-1, losing 1-0 then winning 6-2 and 6-3.

Up next for Oklahoma State is a single road game against Wichita State later today. After that is a three-game road series against West Virginia starting on Friday.

TCU (17-7, 2-7 Big 12)

Last Tuesday, TCU won a single home game against UT Arlington 7-3. TCU used a 4-0 start to help propel the way to victory.

This past weekend, TCU played a three-game road series against Oklahoma State. They lost the series 2-1, winning 1-0 then losing 6-2 and 6-3.

Up next for TCU is a three-game home series against Houston starting on Thursday. After that is a single road game against UT Arlington next Tuesday.

Texas (15-9, 4-2)

Last week, Texas hosted a two-game home series against Air Force. They swept the series 6-5 in 10 innings and 12-3.

This past weekend, Texas hosted a three-game home series against Baylor. They won the series 2-1, losing 4-3 in 11 innings then winning 10-2 and 11-1 in eight innings.

Up next for Texas is a single home game against A&M-Corpus Christi later today. After that is a three-game road series against No. 23 Kansas State starting on Thursday.

Texas Tech (17-7, 4-5 Big 12)

Last Tuesday, Texas Tech won a single home game against Abilene Christian 9-4. Texas Tech used a 9-2 start to help propel the way to victory.

This past weekend, Texas Tech hosted a three-game series against BYU. They won the series 2-1, losing 8-5 then winning 4-3 and 10-1.

Up next for Texas Tech is a single home game against Stephen F. Austin later today. After that is a three-game road series against UCF starting on Thursday.

UCF (15-6, 4-5 Big 12)

Last Tuesday, UCF won a home game against Florida Atlantic 3-2. UCF hit a go-ahead home run in the eighth inning to help propel the way to victory.

This past weekend, UCF played a three-game road series against Kansas. They won the series 2-1, losing 13-3 then winning 6-2 and 4-1.

Up next for UCF is a single road game against Jacksonville later today. After that is a three-game home series against Texas Tech starting on Thursday.

West Virginia (14-10, 4-2 Big 12)

Last Wednesday, West Virginia won a single home game against Marshall 15-0. West Virginia hit five home runs to help propel the way to victory.

This past weekend, West Virginia played a three-game road series against No. 17 Oklahoma. They won the series 2-1, losing 13-0 then winning 9-5 and 8-3.

Up next for West Virginia is a single home game against Akron later today. After that is a three-game home series against Oklahoma State starting on Friday.
