Tuesday afternoon in Morgantown, the West Virginia men’s basketball program saw another staff departure.
Director of Recruiting and Player Personnel Jay Kuntz took to Twitter/X to announce his departure from the program after 16 years. Kuntz was brought on to the staff as an 18 year old and took on the role of Director of Recruiting two summers ago.
Part of Kuntz’s job was to recruit the transfer portal and he was instrumental in assembling WVU’s roster from the portal over the past couple of seasons.
“To the Mountaineer fanbase and the people of West Virginia, I am at a loss for words for the first time, which I know will surprise some of you. The love and support you provide West Virginia University and its athletics programs are second to none,” Kuntz said in his statement.
