West Virginia Opens 2024 Outdoor Season at USF Alumni Invitational

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (March. 14, 2024) – The West Virginia University track and field team is slated to open the 2024 outdoor season at the USF Alumni Invitational in Tampa, Florida on March 15-16.

The meet will be streamed live on ESPN+, while live stats also are available at WVUsports.com.

Tentatively, the outdoor season opener kicks off on Friday at 5:40 p.m. ET, for the Mountaineers in the women’s 800-meter run. Additionally, West Virginia will compete in the women’s 5,000 meters at 7 p.m.

West Virginia continues competition on Saturday starting at 11 a.m. in the women’s triple jump, followed by 1,500-meter run at 12:50 p.m.

Next, the Mountaineers will compete in the women’s high jump at 1:30 p.m. West Virginia will then race in the 400-meter dash at 2:00 p.m. The Mountaineers conclude competition at the USF Alumni Invitational at 3:50 p.m. with the women’s 4×400 meter relay.

Last time out, redshirt junior Ceili McCabe finished sixth in the women’s mile at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championship in Boston, Massachusetts with a program record time of 4:29.26. McCabe earned First Team All-America honors with her finish, collecting her eighth All-American honor.
