ESPN dropped their latest women’s basketball bracketology early this morning, and West Virginia remained a six seed in their projections.
They have West Virginia in the Raleigh region playing against Green Bay, who is in the tournament as an automatic qualifier. If West Virginia were to win in this bracket, they would then face the winner of the NC State and Chattanooga matchup.
West Virginia is currently sitting at 24-7 on the season and finished in the quarterfinals at the Big 12 Tournament. WVU has hovered in the six-to-seven seed area for the last few weeks, and them getting a six seed would be a big plus, helping them avoid a possible second round matchup against a No. 2 seed in their home arena
Seeds No. 1-4 host the opening two rounds of the NCAA Tournament, and teams in close proximity to Morgantown who could host include, Virginia Tech and Ohio State as the closest two.
WVU is one of seven Big 12 schools listed in ESPN’s latest projections for the NCAA Tournament.
Selection Sunday is set for this Sunday at 8 p.m. EST.
