After transferring to West Virginia over the offseason, Kerr Kriisa will be amongst the six seniors who are walking for tonight’s senior night game.
The 6-foot-3 guard from Estonia transferred to West Virginia in April of 2023 from Arizona. Following the resignation of Bob Huggins, Kriisa entered the portal once more, but ultimately chose to withdraw his name from the portal and return to West Virginia.
Kriisa began the season on the sideline after it was announced he would be suspended for the first nine games of the season for receiving impermissible benefits before coming to Morgantown.
Kriisa made his regular season debut against UMass on Dec. 16 where he made an immediate impact on the offense, scoring 20 points while having seven assists. Against Toledo later that month, Kriisa earned a double-double with 12 points and 10 assists, the first Mountaineer to accomplish the feat with points and assists since 2019.
This season, Kriisa has started in all 20 games that he has appeared in, averaging 11.5 points and 4.7 assists on 43.5% shooting from the field and a team high 43% from three. In a loss to UCF in January, Kriisa had five assists, which put him at the 400 assist mark for his career
Kriisa began his career at Arizona where he spent the previous three seasons. At Arizona, Kriisa led the Pac-12 conference in assists in back-to-back years, being the first player to do so since Brandon Granville of USC did it in 2000 and 2001.
“We’re representing not only Morgantown, but the whole state, which is very very special,” Kriisa said in his introductory press conference. “I like it here, I think Morgantown is a place, it’s definitely not a place for everybody. It’s either you like it or you hate it and I happen to really like it.”
