On Tuesday, West Virginia women’s basketball player JJ Quinerly was listed as a top-five finalist for the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award, which is given to the best women’s basketball shooting guard in the nation.
This season, the 5-foot-8 Junior, has played and started in all of WVU’s 29 games and is averaging 19.4 points, 3.2 rebounds, three steals and 2.9 assists per game, shooting 46% from the field.
In West Virginia’s last game against TCU, Quinerly scored 14 points, with two steals and a rebound in a little over two quarters, before she exited the game with a knee injury after colliding with teammate Kylee Blacksten. Her status is currently up in the air.
The Mountaineers are 23-6 this season and will host an opponent to be determined in the first round of the Big 12 Championship on Friday at 9:00 p.m. EST.
Along with Quinerly, the finalists for the award are UCLA’s Charisma Osborne, UCONN’s Paige Bueckers, USC’s JuJu Watkins and Ta’Niya Latson from Florida State.
