West Virginia women’s basketball earned the No. 6 seed in the Big 12 Tournament.
With their seeding, they also earn a first round bye, and will not play until Friday, Mar. 8.
The Mountaineers struggled down the stretch of the season, dropping out of the top four. Big 12 regular season champion Oklahoma earned the No. 1 overall seed, followed by Texas, Kansas State, and Iowa State for the 2-4 seeds.
WVU opens up play on Friday night against the winner of No. 11 Cincinnati vs No. 14 UCF. The Mountaineers went 4-0 against those teams this season. If WVU were to win that game, they then play Saturday night against No. 3 Kansas State. The winner of that game faces either No. 2 Texas, No. 7 Kansas, or No. 10 BYU.
The tournament is in Kansas City from Mar. 7-12, with Sunday, Mar. 10, being an off day for all teams.
WVU’s first game is set for 9:00 p.m. EST on Friday, and it will be televised on ESPN+.
