Josh Eilert expecting former Mountaineer Joe Toussaint to have a ‘chip on his shoulder’ when he returns Saturday

Former Mountaineer Joe Toussaint spent just one year in Morgantown, before he left after the change at head coach this past summer.

On Saturday, Toussaint and his new team Texas Tech, will play against the Mountaineers at the WVU Coliseum.

WVU interim head coach Josh Eilert said he expects Toussaint to play with a chip on his shoulder and with something to prove as he makes his return to Morgantown.

“Joe, we all know who Joe Toussaint is and how he plays. He’s a bulldog out there on the floor defensively. I’m sure he’s going to come in with that chip on his shoulder, coming back to Morgantown and try to wreak havoc,” Eilert said.

Toussaint is a starter for the Red Raiders this season, and is averaging 12.3 points per game, 4.3 assists per game, and just over a steal per game this season. Last season at WVU, Toussaint started one game, but appeared in 34, averaging 9.4 points and 2.6 assists per game.

Toussaint has been paired with Pop Isaacs, and they have been a strong backcourt duo for the Red Raiders this season.

“Certainly between Pop Isaacs and Joe Toussaint and one of the key guys, not to mention, [Kerwin] Walton. Walton is shooting it as god as anybody in the league at almost 50 percent from three,” Eilert said. “You look at their box score and they’re a very, very, balanced team.”
