Predictions: Does WVU overcome road woes Monday against Kansas State?

West Virginia men’s basketball hits the road Monday for the second game of a two-game road swing.

They will try to do something they haven’t done all season — win away from the WVU Coliseum. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m., and the game will be televised on ESPN2.

Our staff gives their prediction for tonight’s game:

Wesley Shoemaker: West Virginia played really well and really poor at times in their loss to Iowa State on Saturday. The Mountaineers struggled with turnovers, but they shot the ball really well when they took care of it on offense. I don’t know what’s left with this team on the road in a second game in three days type of swing that they are experiencing tonight. Overall, I think it will be close throughout, but just like Saturday, Kansas State pulls away late.

Kansas State 74, West Virgina 68

Patrick Reneau: WVU heads to Manhattan to continue their road trip. West Virginia has already seen Kansas state, losing to them back in January in Morgantown. West Virginia just lost on the road against Iowa state, bringing them to 0-11 in games away from Morgantown this year. At the end of the day, this just is not a good basketball team, and they’re an even worse one once they hop on the road. They could obviously win this game, but I see Kansas state coming out on top in this one.

Kansas State 78, West Virginia 64

Ryan Roddy: Coming off a loss to Iowa State on Saturday where they played well at times, the Mountaineers will face Kansas State on Monday. The Wildcats are coming off of a 10-point victory over No. 25 BYU where they shot 56.3% from the field and 46.7% from three. WVU lost to Kansas State by 14 on Jan. 9 and have just flat out struggled on the road. I expect the Mountaineers to get out to a good start in the first half, but struggle coming out of the locker room at half.
