Former West Virginia outfielder Victor Scott II was talked about on MLB Network’s Hot Stove on Monday, with analyst Jon “JP” Morosi crediting Scott’s potential and blazing speed, reviewing a clip from a recent spring training game.
Scott won a MiLB gold glove last season, after being drafted by the St.Louis Cardinals in the fifth round of the 2022 MLB Draft.
“Victor Scott II can really get around the bases,” Morsi said.
Scott II holds an 80 speed grade according to MLB.com and stole 94 bases in 2023, in 132 games between high-A and AA. He batted .303 with 166 hits, including 10 triples.
“Victor Scott II, the proud West Virginia Mountaineer, learn the name, love the name. When he is on base, no pitcher is comfortable,” Morosi said.
Scott ended 2023 as the Cardinals’ No. 4 prospect with an MLB ETA of 2025.
While at West Virginia, Scott played three seasons with his junior season being his most impressive. In 2022, Scott hit .278 with 38 stolen bases and six homers in 55 games.
The 23-year-old lefty was a non-roster invitee to St.Louis’ Spring Training and has picked up one hit and a stolen base so far.
