West Virgina men’s basketball has lost four straight games, and they have their second home game in a row against UCF on Tuesday night.
Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m., while the game will be televised on ESPNU. Both teams have struggled as of late with UCF losing their last three and WVU losing their last four.
Our staff gives their predictions:
Wesley Shoemaker: If there is one game you point to on the schedule and think the Mountaineers have a good chance at winning, it’s this one against UCF. Both teams come in struggling, but WVU’s offense showed serious signs of life against Baylor this past Saturday. Part of that life came from RaeQuan Battle, and if I had to bet, he is going to want some level of revenge against UCF after he was ejected in their first meeting. I think the Mountianeers are going to play well on offense and it’s hard to pick against the home team between two teams that have struggled so much recently. It won’t be pretty, but West Virginia gets it done.
West Virginia 72, UCF 67
Patrick Reneau: West Virginia will welcome UCF to the coliseum whilst in the midst of a 4 game losing streak. Coming off a loss against Baylor where the score makes it look much closer than it was, WVU is desperate for a win. Last time they met UCF the mountaineers did not look very good. I’m going to believe this is one of those random home games where West Virginia comes out firing and doesn’t seem to miss at all, doing just enough to snap the losing streak and come out with a win.
West Virginia 74, UCF 69
Ryan Roddy: West Virginia has lost four-straight but showed fight late against Baylor. The UCF Knights step into Morgantown having lost three-straight, but defeated WVU in late January in Orlando. The Mountaineers perform better at home and I think they have something to prove to the fans on Tuesday. I predict they’ll play the Knights close and pull it off late, with a basket in the closing seconds.
