Predictions: West Virginia looks to break three-game losing streak against No. 12 Baylor

West Virginia men’s basketball will look to break a three-game winning streak on Saturday, when they welcome No. 12 Baylor.

The Mountaineers lost to TCU on Monday, while the Bears beat Oklahoma on Tuesday.

Our staff gives their prediction for the game:

Wesley Shoemaker: Welcome back Jalen Bridges (again), while West Virginia is seriously struggling. They have lost three straight games by an average of 21.7 points. I think the Mountaineers come out with a level of desperation, and they’re back at home after a two-game road swing which helps WVU as well. Overall though, I think the Mountaineers keep it close but the Bears’ depth will be too much. They have six scorers averaging double digits, and there guard play is as good as usual. WVU hangs in there, but Baylor pulls away late.

Patrick Reneau: With Baylor coming to town, WVU needs a win to gain some form of momentum. WVU, who’s on a three-game losing streak, has yet to show glimpses of the same team that upset Kansas. This is a team who doesn’t play well on the road, but tends to play somewhat better at home. Baylor is a tough team and a win would require much better performances than what we’ve seen in the last couple weeks. A win would be huge and not shocking for WVU, but I don’t see it happening. This is a team who can’t seem to find their footing at all and I believe that will continue against Baylor.

Ryan Roddy: West Virginia has lost three-straight and are faced with a tough task in No. 12 Baylor on Saturday. Former Mountaineer Jalen Bridges makes his return to the WVU Coliseum and could find success against his former team. West Virginia has struggled on both sides of the ball as of late which may continue into Saturday. Noah Farrakhan and Kerr Kriisa are both considered day-to-day after suffering slight injuries on Monday which doesn’t help the Mountaineers.
