We are halfway through the month of February and the Big 12 has been one of the best conferences in women’s college basketball.
In the latest AP Poll, the Big 12 has five teams represented in it: Texas at fifth, Kansas State at seventh, Baylor at 21st, Oklahoma at 23rd, and West Virginia at 24th.
As of games through Feb. 15, every team is currently sitting at or above .500 on the season.
Let’s take a look at each Big 12 team and how they fared in games over the last week. This list is sorted alphabetically.
No. 21 Baylor (18-6, 7-6 Big 12)
Last Saturday, Baylor won a top 25 showdown at home against No. 22 West Virginia 65-58. West Virginia kept it close in the first quarter, then Baylor pulled away from them, then West Virginia had a comeback fall short.
This past Wednesday, Baylor lost a top 25 showdown on the road against No. 23 Oklahoma 84-73. Baylor only led in the first half as Oklahoma took care of business in the second half.
Up next for Baylor is a home game against Texas Tech on Sunday, Feb. 18. After that is a home game against Kansas on Wednesday, Feb. 21.
BYU (15-11, 5-8 Big 12)
Last Saturday, BYU won a road game against Cincinnati 69-57. BYU only trailed in the first half as they took care of business in the second half.
This past Tuesday, BYU won a road game against UCF 64-60. BYU trailed at halftime but had a strong second half to win it.
Up next for BYU is a home game against Kansas tomorrow. After that is a home game against TCU on Wednesday, Feb. 21.
Cincinnati (12-12, 4-9 Big 12)
Last Saturday, Cincinnati lost a home game against BYU 69-57. Cincinnati only led in the first half as BYU took care of business in the second half.
This past Wednesday, Cincinnati lost a road game against Kansas 75-60. Cincinnati never led in this one as Kansas took care of business on their home court.
Up next for Cincinnati is a home game against TCU tomorrow. After that is a home game against Oklahoma on Tuesday, Feb. 20.
Houston (12-12, 3-10 Big 12)
This past Wednesday, Houston lost a home game against No. 5 Texas 82-66. Houston only led early in the second quarter as Texas ran away with it from there.
That is the only game Houston has played over the past week and up next is a road game against Oklahoma State tomorrow. After that is a home game against Iowa State on Wednesday, Feb. 21.
Iowa State (14-9, 8-5 Big 12)
Last Saturday, Iowa State lost a home game against Oklahoma 86-72. Iowa State kept it close before Oklahoma pulled away from there.
This past Wednesday, Iowa State won a home game against No. 7 Kansas State 93-92 in double overtime. Iowa State led by as many as 13 points in the second quarter before Kansas State kept it close the rest of the way.
Up next for Iowa State is a road game against No. 5 Texas tomorrow. After that is a road game against Houston on Wednesday, Feb. 21.
Kansas (14-10, 7-6 Big 12)
This past Wednesday, Kansas won a home game against Cincinnati 75-60. Kansas never trailed in this one as they took care of business on their home court.
That is the only game Kansas has played over the past week and up next is a road game against BYU tomorrow. After that is a road game against Baylor on Wednesday, Feb. 21.
No. 7 Kansas State (21-4, 10-3 Big 12)
Last Saturday, Kansas State won a home game against Oklahoma State 69-68. The game was tightly contested throughout, and Kansas State managed to squeak out the win.
This past Wednesday, Kansas State lost a road game against Iowa State 93-92 in overtime. Kansas State trailed by as many as 13 points in the second quarter before they kept it close the rest of the way.
