West Virginia Set to Compete at David Hemery Invitational

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (Feb. 8, 2024) – The West Virginia University track and field team will travel to the David Hemery Invitational on Friday, Feb. 9 and Saturday, Feb. 10 which will be held at the Track and Tennis Center in Boston, Massachusetts. 

The David Hemery Valentine Invitational is slated for a 9 a.m. ET start on Friday morning, followed by a 9 a.m. start on Saturday.

This weekend marks the first trip to Boston for the Mountaineers as they will compete in the women’s 800-meter race, the mile run, the 1,000 meters and the 3,000-meter race.

Last time out, West Virginia competed at the Sykes and Sabock Challenge on Saturday, Feb. 3 in University Park, Pennsylvania. The team was led by redshirt senior Sarah Tait who finished second in the women’s mile with a time of 4:35.55, placing herself third on the all-time list.

Redshirt junior Cassandra Williamson secured the second-place spot in program history in the women’s 800 meters with a time of 2:05.83. While freshman Kishay Rowe finished fourth in the women’s 500-meter race with a time of 1:13.54, placing herself third on the all-time list.

In the field, the team was led by redshirt freshman Annishka McDonald who finished first in the women’s high jump at the 1.73-meter mark.
