WVU guard JJ Quinerly has been named to the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year Watchlist, announced by Naismith Awards on Wednesday.
So far this season, Quinerly has been the difference maker on both offense and defense for the Mountaineers, as they are off to a 20-2 start. She is one of 15 names on the watchlist, and she is one of four from the Big 12.
Quinerly is the only player in the league averaging three steals per game and has 73 steals so far this season. The single season record for steals in a season for the Mountaineers is 114. She is sixth in the country in steals per game, and eighth in the country in total steals.
