In the first year of a three-year, $20 million deal he earned this past offseason, former West Virginia and current Chicago Bulls guard Jevon Carter has been a key role player, playing for the team in the area he grew up in.
Carter had arguably his best season with the Milwaukee Bucks last season, starting 39 games, averaging 22.3 minutes per game, eight points per game and having a three-point percentage of 42.1%, helping him earn his deal with Chicago after declining a $2.2 million player option.
This season, Carter has not started a game for the Bulls but has played in 48 games, averaging 13.7 mpg, 5.1 ppg, 1.2 assists per game, 0.8 rebounds and half-a-steal per game.
Carter’s season-high in points came early in the season in a loss to the reigning NBA champion Denver Nuggets, where he scored 16 points, shooting six of nine from the field, including four of five from three in 18 minutes played on Nov. 4, 2023.
Carter played a season-high 24 minutes against the San Antonio Spurs on Jan. 13, where he scored 14 points.
This season, the 28-year-old is shooting 36.6% from the field.
Carter and the Bulls’ next matchup is on Tuesday at home against the Minnesota Timberwolves with tip-off set for 8 p.m. EST.
