West Virginia women’s basketball continue to climb in AP Poll ahead of challenging week

West Virginia women’s basketball continued to rise in the AP Top 25 Poll for the second week in a row.

The Mountaineers moved up one spot to No. 22, and they have now climbed a spot in each of the past two weeks.

WVU is one of five Big 12 teams ranked, including No. 7 Texas, No. 8 Kansas State, No. 18 Baylor, No. 22 West Virginia and No. 24 Oklahoma.

WVU is one game back of first place Oklahoma in the conference standings, while Kansas State is second in the Big 12 and is a half game back of the Sooners.

WVU is also ranked No. 22 in the NET Rankings, the fourth-highest of any Big 12 school.

This week, WVU hosts Texas Tech on Tuesday night, before they hit the road to face No. 18 Baylor on Saturday. The Mountaineers are 19-2 on the season and are 8-2 in Big 12 play.

Four of WVU’s next six games are against ranked opponents, including two games against Baylor, and then one against Oklahoma and Kansas State. Two of those four games will be on the road.
