Pair of Mountaineers leave football program

As first reported by Chris Anderson of 247Sports, running back DJ Oliver and offensive lineman Charlie Katarincic are no longer with the WVU football program as they are expected to enter the transfer portal in the spring.

Oliver, a freshman in 2023, saw limited action playing in five games with 47 yards and a touchdown on 12 attempts. In West Virginia’s bowl win over UNC on Dec. 27, 2023, Oliver fumbled on his only carry of the first half and ended the game with nine rushing yards on just two attempts.

Katarincic, a 6-foot-4, 293-pound redshirt freshman, who was a three-star recruit in the class of 2022 out of Choate Rosemary Hall in Connecticut, dealt with injuries his first two years in college which hurt his chances of seeing the field.
