West Virginia hosts Cincinnati on Wednesday night at the WVU Coliseum. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m. and the game will be televised on ESPN+.
Our staff gives their predictions for the game:
Wesley Shoemaker: Does home cooking exist? West Virginia can’t help themselves on the road, but they have won two straight at home, both against ranked opponents. Cincinnati certainly poses significant issues, especially with their length and physicality at the guard position. Will Jesse Edwards start? If so, what’s his contributions like? Overall, getting this group back together is nice, but I think UC’s defense will be too much for the struggling Mountaineers.
Cincinnati 72, West Virginia 66
Patrick Reneau: WVU welcomes bag old big east foe Cincinnati tonight. With the mountaineer having not looked too great the last couple games, a home win would prove to be another good turning point for Eilert and his staff. We saw the return of Jesse Edwards against OkSt and should be seeing an increase in his minutes tonight. West Virginia was unable to get a lot out of battle against the cowboys and that spells disaster for wvu. Tonight I expect a different result for the mountaineers than recent. Battle and Edwards will be able to help keep them in the game as well as Kerr Kriisa.
West Virginia 82, Cincinnati 76
Ryan Roddy: After dropping back-to-back games on the road, the Mountaineers are back home to face Cincinnati. West Virginia has played their best at home this season, totaling all seven of their wins. RaeQuan Battle has struggled recently, but Ker Kriisa shined in the loss to Oklahoma State Saturday. Jesse Edwards should be eased into the rotation a bit more and could start. Looking to prove something, I predict WVU to bounce back and play their best against the Bearcats. If Mountaineer guards can contain Dan Skillings Jr. they should have no problem doing so.
West Virginia 74, Cincinnati 69
