JJ Wetherholt Named Preseason First-Team All-American by D1Baseball

West Virginia shortstop JJ Wetherholt has been named a Preseason First-Team All-American by D1Baseball, they announced on Monday.

Wetherholt, who is making the move from second base to shortstop this season, was named the Big 12 Player of the Year last season, and was also named a First Team All-American for the 2023 season.

Wetherholt has quite the expectations surrounding him, after he finished 2023 hitting .449, with 16 home runs, 60 RBI, and 35 steals. Wetherholt was one of two Big 12 players who made the First Team, while the SEC had seven First Team Selections.
