The West Virginia men’s basketball team will head to Stillwater, Oklahoma to take on Oklahoma State Saturday in a matchup between the bottom two teams in the Big 12 conference.
The Mountaineers have yet to win a game outside the WVU Coliseum this season (0-7).
They are coming off of a 72-59 loss to UCF on Tuesday, where they got most of their points from the bench (58) due to RaeQuan Battle getting ejected because of two technical fouls and Pat Suemnick fouling out late, not scoring any points.
As for the Cowboys, they are sitting at the bottom of the Big 12, still looking to pick up their first conference win as they are 0-6 in conference play thus far.
Most recently, they fell to TCU 74-69 on Tuesday at home where they shot 41.2% from the field and were out-rebounded by the Horned Frogs 38-28.
Before entering conference play, OSU had won five games in a row.
Despite their recent struggle Oklahoma State still has a positive scoring margin of 2.3, averaging 71.6 points per game and allowing 69.6 ppg.
They’ve shot 44.9% from the field and 35.7% from three this season.
After their loss last game, the Mountaineers’ scoring margin has decreased to -4.3, scoring 68.4 ppg and allowing 72.7 ppg on average.
After possibly their best offensive performance of the season against former No. 3 Kansas, WVU struggled against Central Florida offensively, shooting 36.2% from the field.
Javon Small the junior guard from South Bend, Indiana is the Cowboys’ leading scorer on average with 13.9 ppg.
Small scored a season and career-high 29 points in an overtime loss to Notre Dame on Nov. 17, 2023, the team from his hometown.
The two programs are 12-12 against each other all-time, with WVU winning their first meeting in 1958.
They wouldn’t play again until the Mountaineers joined the Big 12 in 2012 where OSU would win four straight from 2013-2014.
West Virginia won the last matchup last season vs the Cowboys 85-67 on Feb. 20, 2023.
According to ESPN Analytics matchup predictor Oklahoma State has a 83.4% chance of defeating WVU Saturday.
