Predictions: Can West Virginia pick up its first win on the road?

The Mountaineers men’s basketball team is on the road for its second straight game, against Oklahoma State on Saturday after losing to UCF 72-59 in Orlando on Tuesday.

WVU is yet to win a game not played in their Coliseum this season (0-7), while the Cowboys are looking for their first conference win (0-6).

Tipoff from Stillwater, Oklahoma is set for 2:00 p.m. EST with the game being streamed to ESPN+.

Our staff gives their predictions for this game

Wesley Shoemaker: West Virginia hits the road for the second time this week after what was a lackluster performance against UCF. The Mountaineers have had a mixed history against Oklahoma State, but I think the backbone of this team will prevail. WVU has a lot of experience on their roster and they also know it’s now or never. RaeQuan Battle bounces back after he was ejected against UCF and the Mountaineers get a big win on the road.

West Virginia 70, Oklahoma State 65

Patrick Reneau: The momentum didn’t carry strong into Orlando, and now they turn their attention to game in Stillwater. Oklahoma state is yet to lose a conference game this year, but West Virginia has struggled in Stillwater the last couple of years and I don’t expect this game to be much different. With the return of Jesse Edwards still looming, every game looks has a big question mark next to it. For now, I don’t expect a bad road team to win on the road, regardless of who the opponent is.

Oklahoma State 72, West Virginia 65

Ryan Roddy: After a tough loss to UCF Tuesday night, the proverbial fire under the Mountaineers has reignited and grown hotter in what has been an abnormal season for West Virginia men’s basketball. On the other hand, Oklahoma State has struggled in conference play, making this a manageable game for WVU. I’m expecting RaeQuan Battle to find his footing again after being ejected the other night in Orlando. Jesse Edwards has still not returned, after being available since West Virginia’s big win against Kansas. If he does return, Edwards can give the Cowboys some problems down low, with them being out-rebounded in every Big 12 game they played thus far. After a slow start in the first half, I’m predicting the Mountaineers to figure it out in the second, finding a way to pull it off late in what I think will be a close game.
