West Virginia forward Jesse Edwards is available to play Tuesday night against UCF.
After missing more than the last month with a fractured wrist, the Mountaineers could get their former starting center back Tuesday night, however he is not in the starting lineup.
Interim head coach Josh Eilert gave a pregame update on WVU’s radio broadcast, saying they are not going to force the issue with Edwards, but he would be available in emergency use.
“He’s available. Whether we’ll use him or not, that’s to be determined,” Eilert said. “If we get into an emergency situation, he would be available and he would be willing to be out there.”
Edwards started the first 10 games of the season for the Mountaineers, before missing the last eight with the fractured wrist. Edwards returned to practice last Friday, and suited up against Kansas on Saturday, but he did not see any game action. Edwards averaged 14.8 points per game and 8.7 rebounds per game prior to his absence.
WVU’s starting five remains unchanged from their game against KU on Saturday:
Kerr Kriisa
Kobe Johnson
RaeQuan Battle
Akok Akok
Pat Suemnick
