JJ Quinerly named Big 12 Player of the Week

West Virginia Women’s Basketball player JJ Quinerly was named the Big 12 Player of the Week for this past week.

West Virginia went 2-0 this past week, with Quinerly averaging 20.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and six steals per game in games against Houston and Cincinnati.

Quinerly had 18 points, five rebounds and four assists in the win over Houston. In the win over Cincinnati, she scored 23 points and had eight steals, with the eight steals being the most any Big 12 player has had in a game this season.

Quinerly helped West Virginia become the first team in Division I women’s basketball history to record a shutout in a quarter in consecutive games as the Mountaineers shutout Houston and Cincinnati in the first quarter.

This is the second time that she has earned Player of the Week honors this season and in her career. She is also the 12th player in program history to earn a Big 12 Player of the Week honor.

Up next for JJ Quinerly and the Mountaineers is a home game against Iowa State on Saturday at 2 p.m.
