West Virginia men’s basketball heads to Orlando to face UCF on Tuesday night.
The Mountaineers are fresh off their best game of the season in an upset win over Kansas on Saturday. The Knights on the other hand had their worst offensive performance of the year on Saturday, scoring only 42 points, while their 15.9 percent shooting percentage was worst in Big 12 history, and their seven field goals made were the fewest in a college basketball game this season.
Despite the two extremes these two teams experienced on Saturday, the computer models and betting odds still heavily favor the Knights.
UCF is ranked No. 72 in KenPom, and they are No. 67 in the NET. WVU is No. 132 in KenPom and they are No. 152 in the NET. For the Mountaineers, this game will be a Quad 1 game. WVU is 1-5 in Quad 1 games this season. UCF is 8-3 in home games this season.
KenPom gives WVU a 21 percent chance to win on Tuesday night, as their final score prediction is 74-65. Vegas has a similar spread to that nine points, as as of Monday, UCF is favored by eight points. ESPN’s BPI gives WVU a 12.2 percent chance to win.
Both teams are 2-3 in Big 12 play this season. WVU is 0-6 in games played away from the WVU Coliseum this season, including 0-4 in road games. This is the first of two road games for the Mountaineers this week.
