West Virginia men’s basketball heads to Norman on Wednesday night, a place they have not had much luck playing in as of late.
West Virginia got their first Big 12 win over No. 25 Texas this past Saturday, breaking a four-game losing streak. Oklahoma is on a two-game losing streak as they lost a pair of road game to TCU and Kansas last week.
Our staff predicts the game:
Wesley Shoemaker: In what would be a huge boost after a big win against Texas on Saturday, the Mountaineers hit the road. WVU is already facing adversity with a tough travel schedule on Tuesday, and then add in the illness of Pat Suemnick and things could get dicey for the Mountaineers. I think WVU keeps it close throughout the first half and into the second half as they have done with most of their games this season. In the end, the Sooners are in desperation mode at home and I think they get it done.

Patrick Reneau: Coming off a big win against ranked Texas at home, West Virginia is continuing the grind of the big 12 by traveling to Oklahoma who is in the midst of a 2 game losing streak. West Virginia was able to beat Texas due to someone not named RaeQuan battle or Kerr kriisa being the leading scorer and that was Pat suemnick. I’m not saying suemnick will have to have the game he had again, although it would be nice. But for West Virginia to continue this winning streak without Jesse Edwards someone else will have to step up once again. Against a team as good as Oklahoma I’m just not sure if that is as possible due to Porter Moser being a very defensive minded head coach.

Ryan Roddy: Coming off an upset win to former No. 25 Texas, the Mountaineers have slight momentum heading into Norman. Pat Suemnick played a huge role in the victory over the Longhorns, but may not play against the No. 15 Sooners due to illness which may be a huge factor in the outcome. For Oklahoma Otega Oweh, brother of Baltimore Ravens linebacker Odafe Oweh, has been shooting lights out with a 58.3% field goal percentage and a 65.2% three point percentage (15-23). West Virginia guard RaeQuan Battle has gradually cooled down in conference play after starting his season on fire. With a lack of height, I predict WVU to be totally outmatched leading to a lopsided affair. I’m interested to see the starting five Mountaineers’ interim head coach Josh Eilert goes with on Wednesday after mixing it up the last couple of games.
