Pat Suemnick dealing with an illness as West Virginia prepares to take on No. 15 Oklahoma

On Tuesday, West Virginia interim head coach Josh Eilert said forward Pat Suemnick is dealing with an illness.

“I get a text this morning, he’s come up with an illness too. He’s going to get checked out by the doctors and the trainers to see what he’s got going on and we’re going to try to isolate him as much as we can as we travel up to Pittsburgh,” Eilert said. “It’s that time of year. You never know when you’re going to get the call in the morning that somebody came down with something. Sounds like Pat’s that guy today.”

Suemnick has been really good as of late, continuing to build confidence when he’s on the court. Suemnick has set career highs in scoring in three of WVU’s last four games.

Most recently against Texas on Saturday, Suemnick had 16 points and six. rebounds in WVU’s victory over the Longhorns.

“Pat with limited time, sometimes you can’t get on a roll, get in that groove. We kind of forced our hands to give Pat as much opportunity as possible. It was up to him to do whatever he did with it. He really showed a lot of confidence in the last two or three games, and it just kept on building,” Eilert said of Suemnick.
