In the final AP Poll of the season, West Virginia just barely missed out.
The Mountaineers end the 2023 season ranked No. 27 in the country, receiving 90 overall votes. Oregon State was ranked No. 26 with 96 votes and Liberty grabbed the No. 25 spot with 139 votes.
West Virginia finished the season going 9-4, as they were one of six power five teams to accomplish that feat. All five other teams (Kansas, Kansas State, Clemson, NC State, and Tennessee) were all ranked in the final poll of the season.
West Virginia finished the year with a 30-10 win over North Carolina in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl.
