Josh Eilert did a major shuffle to his starting lineup, switching his two forwards ahead of Tuesday night’s game against Kansas State.
Eilert inserted Josiah Harris and Pat Suemnick in place of Quinn Slazinski and Akok Akok. Eilert explained the decision behind the move following WVU’s 81-67 loss.
“There’s no secret that Quinn was struggling to make shots. I thought maybe with him coming off the bench might give him a spark with a different group of guys out on the floor at the same time,” Eilert said.
Slazinski finished with seven points on 1 for 4 shooting, and had four of his points come from the free throw line.
Over his last three games, Slazinski is averaging 8.7 points per game, but has not been efficient from the floor, shooting 29.6 percent from the field over those three games.
Suemnick was coming off games in which he posted career-highs in scoring. Tonight, he went 1 for 3. from Sheffield in 21 minutes of action.
“Pat gave us two really solid games with his efforts in the last two games, so, just trying to figure out a combination with rotations, which is going to be most effective for us,” Eilert said of Suemnick.
