Former Mountaineers have been out there making the mark nearly halfway through the 2023-24 NBA season.
Chicago Bulls point guard Jevon Carter is in his first season with the team after spending time with the Milwaukee Bucks, Brooklyn Nets, Phoenix Suns, and Memphis Grizzlies. He has appeared in every game this season while averaging 14.6 minutes per game and 5.3 points per game.
Carter was a standout at West Virginia from 2014-2018, where he set the school records for single season and career steals. He was a second-round draft pick by the Memphis Grizzlies in 2018.
Miles “Deuce” McBride has been with the New York Knicks since 2021 and is now in his third season with the team. This season, he has appeared in 23 games, averaging 6.3 minutes per game and 2.7 points per game.
McBride played at West Virginia from 2019-2021, where he was an All-Big 12 selection the latter of those years. He was drafted by the Knicks in the second round of the 2021 NBA Draft.
After serving as the interim head coach in 2022-23, Boston Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla is now in his first full season as head coach. The Celtics are currently sitting at 28-8 on the season, which is first in the NBA Eastern Conference. They lead the league in three pointers made and rebounds per game.
Mazzulla played at West Virginia from 2006-2011 before going undrafted at the 2011 NBA Draft. From there he got into coaching, first at the Division II college level of college then eventually worked his way up to the NBA level.
You can catch Jevon Carter in action tomorrow at 8 p.m. as the Bulls host the Houston Rockets. Deuce McBride will be in action tonight at 7:30 p.m. as the Knicks host the Portland Trail Blazers and Joe Mazzulla will be on the sidelines tomorrow as the Celtics will host the Minnesota Timberwolves with tipoff set for 7 p.m.
