Hershey McLaurin announces transfer to new Big 12 rival

Former West Virginia defensive back Hershey McLaurin announced he will be transferring to Houston via an X post and Instagram story on Tuesday.

McLaurin has spent two seasons with the Mountaineers after previously playing at Jones College in Mississippi.

With West Virginia, McLaurin has accumulated 89 total tackles (49 solo), seven tackles for loss, four passes defended and half a sack.

In 2023, McLaurin started, having six of his tackles for loss and three passes defended.

He made four total tackles against the Cougars in WVU’s loss on Oct. 12.
