West Virginia Men’s Basketball player RaeQuan Battle earned Big 12 Player of the Week honors for the second consecutive week, sharing it this week with Texas Tech’s Pop Isaacs.
This past week, Battle had his first career double-double with 24 points and 10 rebounds to go along with three steals in a 78-75 overtime loss to Ohio State in the Legends of Basketball Showcase. Since becoming eligible a couple of weeks ago, Battle has averaged 27.3 points per game in three games so far this season.
He also earned Big 12 Newcomer of the Week honors last week but this week, that honor went to Iowa State’s Keshon Gilbert.
West Virginia has wrapped up non-conference play and is set to have their Big 12 opener on Saturday, Jan. 6 at Houston with tipoff set for 2 p.m. EST.
