West Virginia offensive lineman Doug Nester has accepted his invite to the 2024 Hula Bowl in Orlando, Florida.
The Hula Bowl is an annual all-star college football game that features college football seniors showcasing their skills in front of professional football teams’ scouts. The game was previously played in Hawaii from 1946-2008, then again in 2020 and 2021 before relocating to Orlando in 2022.
The game is played at FBC Mortgage Stadium, home of the UCF Knights. West Virginia got their fifth win there in late October this season 41-28, where Nester started and played 19 offensive snaps prior to exiting with an injury.
Nester started his career at Virginia Tech, where he was a starter for two seasons before transferring to his home state West Virginia, to play for the Mountaineers in 2021. He was the starter at right guard in 2021 and 2022 and then became the starting right tackle in 2023.
He joins Devin Carter as another Mountaineer to play in this year’s Hula Bowl. West Virginia has had players play in the game in the past as well, with some recent names including DB Alonzo Addae in 2022, WR T.J. Simmons and OL Michael Brown in 2021, and LS Rex Sunahara in 2020.
Kickoff for the 2024 Hula Bowl is set for noon EST on Saturday, Jan. 13 at the FBC Mortgage Stadium in Orlando. The full and final rosters have yet to be announced.
